I could have had a heart attack at 29!

A long the way we all get little wake up calls. Mine came in at the end of February this year. I went to the doctors to get something checked out, the doc said I needed a blood test so I went had had one done. The results for that issue came back clear but something else was flagged up, my triglyceride count.

“Triglycerides are a form of fat in the bloodstream. People with high triglycerides often have a high total cholesterol, a high LDL (bad) cholesterol and a low HDL (good) cholesterol level” (www.healingdaily.com)

My triglyceride count came back at 12.37. I said. “is that high?” and the doc replied, “oh yes, extremely, a normal count is around 2.0″. To say I was a little taken back in an understatement, I was shocked. When the doc mentioned I was at very high risk of heart disease or a stroke, that put the willies up me big time. We chatted a little more and the doc wanted to do another blood test specifically for my triglyceride count.

“It is believed that the triglycerides/HDL ratio is one of the most potent predictors of heart disease It is generally considered that if this number is below 2 the person is generally at a low risk of heart disease. So, the lower your triglycerides, or the higher your HDL, the smaller this ratio becomes” (www.healingdaily.com)

I wanted to know what the implications were if my count came back that high again. The doc said I would have to be on medication for the rest of my life. Well, I’ll tell you what I thought about that, “@£$%^&”. There was no way I was going to be putting pharmaceuticals in my body for the rest of my life, no thank you!.

This was something that I had created in my body by my lifestyle and eating habits. Fortunately I went straight to Graham Weinberg at http://www.red23.co.uk , to get his advice. I asked him, “can I reduce my triglyceride count naturally?” he said, “of course you can, no problem”. Now I trust him implicitly, he’s an expert when it comes to nutrition and fitness. He recommended I take a very simple protocol of 4 products daily, they included: greens powder, a fish oil, a probiotic formula and natural high vitamin C supplement. He played a massive part in what was to come over the next 6 weeks.

I went and had the next blood test and wasn’t looking forward to the results. All I knew was that my lifestyle MUST change and it did. I had to look after my body and mind, there was no alternative. Around this time I had decided to do the London to Southend bike ride and this gave me even more incentive to get fit and healthy again.

On the 23rd February the first blood test result came in, my triglceride count was 12.37. Then I changed my lifestlyle in the most dramtic way. I recently found out they had the results back of the 2nd blood test on the 8th April 2009.

You want to know the result right? I’ll tell you, from the 23rd Feb to 8th of April, and this is totally down to my lifestyle change, I managed to reduce my triglyceride count from 12.37 all the way down to 2.95. WHAT! How was that possible? Well, it is, by looking after your body, watching what you eat and excercising regularly AND by choosing to take the 4 natural products that Graham recommended, I had done it and was so pleased, really pleased.

Not only that, I managed to release 1.5 stone in weight, naturally. The reason I say “release” is because if I “lost” it, I am implying that I need to find the weight and be reunited with at some point in the future, I have no interest in doing that.

It actually took me 2 months to get the 2nd results for two reasons. One, I didn’t trust the doctor, he was happy to put me on a pill for the rest of my life to stabalize my count, he never once mentioned any natural remedies to improve my health, needless to say, my faith in him has plumeted even lower even more than it had before.

Secondly, I felt so good, I could feel it in my body that there had been changes, massive changes, it was awesome. So, on June 17th, I finally got round to going to see the doc, just because I was intrigued. These were his words, “well Steve, im not sure what’s happened, your triglyceride count is normal, don’t know how that’s possible”, he then shrugged his shoulder and grinned at me, that’s all he did, nothing else, didn’t even ask me what I’d done.

That was it for me, I wasn’t going to explain what I’d done, I new there had been a huge change. I just said “thanks, see ya later” and walked out with a big smile on my face. On relfection it didn’t really surprise me as he’s there to sell his pharmaceuticals, why would he be interested in someone healing themselves naturally.

So, there is my little story, It’s nearly time to take part in the bike ride and having seen my dad’s best mate suffer greatly with heart disease and having had my little scare, I have decided to support the British Heart Foundation greatly for the bike ride.

My mission is to raise £1,000,000 (1 million pounds) with 1 million people donating just £1. To find out more about The £1 Challenge and to donate your £1, please go to http://www.1poundchallenge.co.uk

Please take care of your health, because without that, you have nothing!

ciao
